Background
The ZenPacks.zenoss.IRCDMonitor ZenPack monitors the number of users connected to an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server.

Enable Monitoring
To enable monitoring:
- Select Infrastructure from the navigation bar.
- Click the device name in the device list. The device overview page appears.
- Expand Monitoring Templates in the left panel, and then select Device.
- Select Bind Templates from the Action menu. The Bind Templates dialog appears.
- Move the IrcdMonitor template from the Available list and move it to the Selected list.
- Click Save. The IrcdMonitor template is added.
- Click the new template in the left panel and change options as needed.
IRC Basic Data Source Options Option Description Port Specifies the port to connect to the IRC server (default 6667). warning_num Creates a warning event when this number of users are seen. critical_num Creates a critical event when this number of users are seen.

Installation
Normal Installation (packaged egg)
- Download the appropriate egg file for the version of Zenoss you are running.
- Ensure you are logged in as the zenoss user:
$ sudo su - zenoss
- Install the ZenPack:
$ zenpack --install ZenPacks.zenoss.IRCDMonitor-*.egg
- Restart these services:
$ zenoss restart
Developer Mode Installation
In order to do a development mode installation you will want to clone the existing git repository, and then use the --link flag with the zenpack command:
- Ensure you are logged in as the zenoss user:
$ sudo su - zenoss
- Start by cloning the upstream repository:
$ git clone git://github.com/path/to/repo
- Next, perform the installation:
$ zenpack --link --install ZenPacks.zenoss.IRCDMonitor
- Finally, restart these serivices:
$ zenoss restart
