Background
This ZenPack leverages the libvirt API for monitoring virtualization servers (e.g. XEN, KVM, etc...). This uses the system python and libvirt python API to monitor various virtualization platforms remotely. It provides a /Server libvirtHost device class and this module is tested using ssh as a transport for the libvirt API, it could be made to use TLS or TCP with further development. It provides a libvirtvirtualHostlist report as well.
Installation
Normal Installation (packaged egg)
- Download the appropriate egg file for the version of Zenoss you are running.
- Ensure you are logged in as the zenoss user:
$ sudo su - zenoss
- Install the ZenPack:
$ zenpack --install ZenPacks.community.libvirt-*.egg
- Restart these services:
$ zenoss restart
Developer Mode Installation
In order to do a development mode installation you will want to clone the existing git repository, and then use the --link flag with the zenpack command:
- Ensure you are logged in as the zenoss user:
$ sudo su - zenoss
- Start by cloning the upstream repository:
$ git clone git://github.com/zenoss/ZenPacks.community.libvirt.git
- Next, perform the installation:
$ zenpack --link --install ZenPacks.community.libvirt
- Finally, restart these serivices:
$ zenoss restart
